Keeping Currier Company

Trent's sister came and spent the holiday weekend with us in our new home. While Trent and I unpacked and got the house semi organized, Carrie played with Currier and kept him busy. Thanks to Carrie, we're pretty much settled in the new place except for picture hanging and some decorating. It's wonderful to sleep in our own beds and have our own things after five months of hotels and temporary apartments. Although the move was exhausting, especially on my pregnant body, I can't seem to wipe the smile off my face. We're all so thrilled with our new home! On Memorial Day, we all went to Folly beach for a dip in the ocean, a seafood lunch and some shaved ice. It was a nice break from unpacking, organizing and cleaning. Thank you Aunt Carrie—we couldn't have set up house without your help.

Our New Home

We finally closed on a house! It took us four months to find the right neighborhood and the perfect home for us, but it was so worth the wait! Our new home is located ten minutes from the beach, ten minutes from Dunkin Donuts (very important!), ten minutes from the city, and ten minutes from the mall. The house reminds me of a Cape Cod cottage—it's absolutely adorable. We couldn't be more thrilled about being in so much debt!

Go To Work!

When Currier gets mad at Trent, he shouts, "Go to work!" Although it's such a naughty thing to say to his daddy, Trent and I both can't help but to turn our heads and giggle. This kid comes up with some pretty funny stuff! Stay tuned for more...

Currier Turns Two!

Yesterday, Currier turned two years old. We celebrated with a pasta dinner (Currier's favorite!) and a Carvel ice cream cake. Happy birthday my sweet, little man.

It's A Small, Small World!

On Sunday we went to a birthday party for our new friend, Patrick. The party was at the Mount Pleasant Fire Department and was, as you can imagine, a total blast for Currier. How we came to meet our new friend, Patrick, is such a neat story. I actually knew his mother, Colleen (she's all fancy spelling her name with two Ls!), from Sicily. Colleen used to come into the travel office where I worked and we also had a mutual friend, Liz. A few months ago, I ran into Colleen at the Verizon office in Mount Pleasant and we both admitted, "You look so familiar. Where do I know you from?" It took us a few minutes to figure out that it was Sicily. The kicker is that we actually ran into each other a few weeks earlier in her backyard and hadn't recognized each other then. Why was I in Colleen's backyard? We were out house hunting and as we were leaving an open house, Currier ran into the next door neighbor's yard because he spotted a little boy (Patrick!) in a little play house. I was trying to get Currier out of the play house and the little boy's mom (Colleen!) was trying to get her dog away from us so being embarrassed and frazzled neither of us made the connection then. I'm so thankful that we ran into each other again... We tease each other that we were just destined to be friends.

Major Milestones

Yay for Currier! It was a big week for the little man. First, he said his name for the first time (see video!). And second, he did pee pee in the potty for the first time tonight (I actually took a picture of the pee in the potty but will spare you that Kodak moment!).

Catching Up With An Old Friend

On Mother's Day, we drove to Columbia to have lunch with an old friend. Amanda and I worked together in Germany many years ago. We worked for the Air force slot machine accounting office. Our job was to fill the empty slot machines and also take a weekly inventory on all the nickels and quarters in the machines. It was a very tedious job, but Amanda and I somehow made it ridiculously fun and we laughed a lot together. Amanda now lives in Louisiana with her husband, Brandon, and their two sons, Dillon and Drew. She was in South Carolina for a wedding this weekend and set aside a little time for lunch with an old friend. I'm so glad she did because our boys played so well together while we shared some laughs reminiscing about our time in Germany.

Expecting

Yeah, I couldn't believe it either! That's why I took THREE pregnancy tests to confirm the good news. It wasn't a complete surprise—After all, we were actually trying for another baby but it happened so fast that we were shocked. Poor Trent sighed, "But we hardly had any sex?!"

I’m 12 weeks pregnant today and officially enter the 2nd trimester. The first trimester was filled with a lot of ALL DAY sickness. It was a really rough time. For a few weeks, all my stomach could handle was oyster crackers and diet ginger ale but the nausea is finally tapering off now and I can only hope that the rest of the pregnancy will be a little kinder to me. I'm due November 21st and can't wait to meet this little turkey!

24 Hours With Aunt Kathy

Trent's sister Kathy came and spent the night on Sunday. It happened to be an especially warm day so as soon as she arrived, we took a ride to the Isle of Palms for cocktails and appetizers on the beach. We sat on the deck of Coconut Joe's sipping drinks, nibbling on bar food and taking in the smells and sounds of the Atlantic ocean. Currier loved his Aunt Kathy and insisted on calling her "Mimi", which was funny at first but I think after a while it began to give Kathy a complex. She proclaimed, "Listen kid, I'm not your grandmother"!
After relaxing on the deck for awhile, we walked down to the ocean where Currier stripped down to his shorts and threw himself to the mercy of the waves. Watching Currier roll around on the seashore made us wish we had brought our swim suits.
Before heading back to Orlando on Monday, Kathy squeezed in a little snuggle with Currier on the couch. After watching the movie Cars a couple of times, we shopped at Target and met Trent for lunch at Moe's. Kathy promised her next visit will be longer than 24 hours once we're settled in our new home.

Celebrating

Chad finished his Navy career in Virginia Beach and stopped by Charleston on his way to his new civilian life in Texas. We started off the evening by dropping Currier off at My Gym for parents night out and then headed downtown Charleston. We went to TBonz Gill and Grill for dinner and Tropical Toast at Diana's for dessert. The boys celebrated with Irish car bombs, beers, Jager shots and rum & cokes. As you can imagine, the rest of Chad's weekend visit was spent on the couch nursing a hangover and watching Thomas the Tank Engine with Currier.
