Try Sports Marathon Training

I started training for a marathon with Try Sports.  Yeah, I know it's crazy but it's something I said I'd do before I turn 40 and that's quickly approaching.  Today was our first run as a group and I survived it!

The Tooth Fairy's Debut

Currier lost his first tooth at the pool yesterday.  He was pretending to be a shark with a pool toy in his mouth and his buddy, Ian, yanked the toy (along with a tooth that wasn't even loose) out of his mouth! There was blood. There was crying. There was panic!

There was a crisp five dollar bill tucked in a cute ceramic tooth under Currier's pillow this morning.

Storytime with Currier

I'm having a sleep over with this nut job and he just told me a fascinating story he made up called Diarrhea Baby. I'd share it with you but you'll have to wait to download it on your Kindle once it's published.

First Day of Summer

We're kicking off the first day of summer soaking in the sun and playing in the surf at the Isle of Palms.

Dinner Cruising

One of my favorite friends, Ella, came in town for a weekend visit.

All the girls got together on Jean's boat for a dinner cruise.

It was a ridiculous blast and the sunset we witnessed was definitely in my top 5.

Staying Home

I'm slowly easing myself back into the stay-at-home mom routine and to be completely honest it's been a rough start.  The rain has kept us in the house for 3 days and now that the sun is finally out, Rya is sick so we're stuck in the house for another lovely day!  I just listened to a 20 minute argument between Currier and Rya over a friggin ribbon and then Currier decided to change Rya’s name to “Rio” because she pronounces his name “Turrier” because she can’t pronounce Currier. This caused Rio, I mean Rya, to spiral into a full on nervous breakdown so I told Currier to go to his room and he obeyed but not without shouting, “I hate you!” before slamming his bedroom door. Then my husband, who has been in DC for over a week, called and told me not to bother picking him up at the airport this evening because he needs to stay in DC for a few more days. This reminded me to go into the kitchen to take my antidepressants and I slipped in a puddle of dog piss and pinched a nerve in my fucking back.  Is it 5 o'clock yet?

Rya's First Dance Recital

Rya had her first ballet dance recital yesterday and she was such a little ham on stage.  She made us proud!

Drunk on Unemployment and High on Summer

I made the decision to leave my editor position at Arcadia to stay home with Currier and Rya.  After calculating the cost of daycare, summer camps and gas it just didn't make sense to give away my paycheck and let someone else raise my kids.  It wasn't an easy decision as I enjoyed my job and really loved the people at Arcadia but I feel it's the right decision for me and my family.  We plan on a lot of GTL (gym, tan and laundry) this summer!  Bring on the FUN!

Ti Voglio Bene Mamma!

Currier still continues to learn the language of his birthplace.  This is him being forced to tell me that he loves me in Italian!

Rya D

The iPhone Instagram App never fails to catch this child's sunny disposition and the PicFrame App allows me to create cool collages.  I love my new iPhone!

Gymnastics

Currier's gymnastics class put on an end of the year show/recital.  To the beat of Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song his class did flips, cartwheels and hand stands before each boy showed off their skills on the rings and uneven bars.  It was a cool performance and I loved seeing the pride in his eyes when he received his very first trophy!
