Goodbye Kindergarten Hello Summer

Currier's Kindergarten class put on an end of the year performance for all the parents.  It was ADORABLE and one of the songs even made me well up.

It's hard to believe our baby boy is headed to the 1st grade!

Batman Birthday Bash

To celebrate Currier's 6th birthday, we had a Batman party at the house with lots of water fun—a jumpy castle water slide, a blowup pool and a whole mess of water balloons!

My friend Jaclyn made the coolest Batman cake that was a huge and delicious hit with the superheroes.  To have her make a cake for your next party go to her website at Cakes4Fun.

My talented and creative friend Rebekah took hilarious photo booth pictures of all the superheroes on the cover of a Batman comic book.  She also took all the party pictures for me so I could relax and enjoy the party.  Rebekah is reasonably priced and patient with kids.  Check out her website at Collinsworth Photography and set up an appointment for a photo session.  *If you dream up a photo booth idea, me and Rebekah can make it happen for you!

The party ended with Currier opening an obscene amount of gifts and handing out superhero goody bags.  What an exhausting blast!

Miracles

Paolo continues to make great strides in his recovery from paralysis.  He's basically back to normal except he can't get up and down the stairs or on the bed anymore.  Otherwise he's Paolo and I'm immensely grateful for his will to survive.  Thanks to everyone who prayed or sent positive energy, helped me care for him physically during his lengthy recovery and/or helped my family out financially with Paolo's mounting veterinarian bills.  You helped save the life of an amazing animal and it makes my heart smile.  Thank you!

Dear Six-Year-Old Currier,

You survived kindergarten. Actually you did more than survive, you thrived this year! You’re reading and writing and you love school. Your teacher, Mrs. Schuck, adores you. She said your stories are so funny, animated and captivating that she hates to stop your gabbing and give you a bad report for interrupting in class. I’m afraid you may have inherited my big mouth. I’ll warn you right now that mouth is going to get you in a lot of trouble in life. Finding a healthy balance of knowing when and where it’s appropriate to open your big mouth is key. If you succeed in doing this, teach me!

Like most six-year-old boys, you like video games, Legos and superheroes. You‘re a social butterfly who makes friends easily and you’re the life of the party! Unlike most six-year-old boys, you’re completely obsessed with washing your hands and avoiding anything sticky or dirty. We’ve even had to make a rule that you’re not allowed to get up from the dinner table to wash your hands. I’m afraid you inherited the OCD behavior from me too. Sorry.

You’re a Mama’s boy and this makes my heart smile. I sometimes meet you for lunch dates in the school cafeteria and I love how proud you are to introduce me to your friends, “Hey guys, this is Mom! She’s the best!” I relish in your adoration because I know it won’t be long before you figure out I’m not the awesome princess that you think I am. The realization and embarrassment are sure to set in soon.

Even when you do become embarrassed of me and let’s face it, there’s a damn good chance of that, I hope you’ll still be my sweet, little Mama’s boy when your friends aren’t around to witness. We are very much alike—you even have my wicked Boston accent and ridiculous sarcasm—so we have a tendency to drive each other crazy but there’s a special connection there and a whole lot of laughs and silly, quirky love!

All my love,

Mama

Lake Lure Girls' Weekend

For Cinco De Mayo weekend Jean and I drove up to Lake Lure, North Carolina (where Dirty Dancing was filmed!) to meet six other wild and wacky women for a cabin get-away!

Spending a weekend with these funny ladies turned into a booze soaked roller coaster ride of awesomeness.
The cabin withstood some serious belly roaring laughter, ridiculous drunken Dirty Dancing and language foul enough to make a sailor blush!  Good times.

West Palm Girls' Weekend

My friend Lauren was awarded an all inclusive spa weekend for two at The Ritz-Carlton in West Palm for exceeding her sales goals for the year and she was kind and brave enough to invite me along as her guest.

It was four luxurious days of room service, naps, manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, champagne body polishes, incredibly delicious meals, hardy laughs and an ungodly amount of alcohol.

I've never been pampered like that in my life and I feel so thankful and honored that Lauren choose me to share in the experience!  The whole weekend made me feel like Julia Roberts' character in Pretty Woman except I'm not pretty or a hooker.
