Wella is Back!

Manuela has returned! She and her husband were sent back to Naples indefinitely but now they're back in America indefinitely. She called last week with the good news. They'll stay in Charleston until December for sure and then her husband will find out if his contract will be renewed or not. We're keeping our fingers crossed that she'll get to stay another year.

Since Manuela is from Naples, where pizza was invented, we celebrated her return by making authentic Naples-style pizza and it turned out soooo delizioso! Grazie for the lesson Manuela!

Manuela

Manuela, our Italian babysitter, delivered bad news to us this week. She and her husband are returning to Naples indefinitely. She's been coming every Tuesday morning for the past six months and Currier has grown very fond of "Wella" and has continued to learn the Italian language. I wanted so much for Currier to stay connected with his birthplace and now I'm afraid we'll have to let go of Sicily. Per favore non di andare, Manuela!

Babysitter Italiana

We found an Italian babysitter! About a month ago, I saw a flier in our apartment complex for Italian language lessons. I immediately called the lady and asked if she would be interested in babysitting for a toddler that understands and speaks a little Italian. The woman was thrilled! Manuela and her husband are from Naples. Her husband works for an Italian company that is working on a project with Boeing. As it turns out, this project has brought a small Italian population to this area. Who would have thought that we would find a "Little Italy" in South Carolina? Manuela has been coming twice a week for a few hours to give me a break and to continue to expose Currier to the Italian language/culture. We feel so lucky that our paths crossed. È meravigliosa!

Moving On

Due to "economic reasons", My Gym closed it's doors a few months ago. We'd been going to that gym for a year so the news was a total bummer. Of course the same week that the gym shut down, our Italian babysitter Manuela moved back to Italy for good. It sucks saying goodbye to people you trust with your children and have grown to love. It rehashes memories of saying goodbye to Bina. We were crushed but we're slowly picking up the pieces. We joined Gymboree and so far Currier is enjoying the classes. Now we just need to find an Italian speaking babysitter who makes amazing pizza. Do you know any in the Charleston area?
